Church Planting
After 35 years of ministry in
Thailand, the Thailand Assemblies of God has grown to just 95 churches
involving a meager 3,800 adherents.
Among Northern Thailand’s 14
million people, there are only 4 churches ministering to the ethnic
Thai population. Just 2 of the 15 capital cities in the North have an
Assembly of God church.
The need for church planting is
desperate!
The
Thai church has minimal resources. When new ministers are trained,
there is no financial help available to plant churches. Our strategy
is to link an American church to a church planting project. In a very
real way, the American church becomes the mother church to a daughter
in Northern Thailand.
The process looks like this:
-
A target city in Northern
Thailand is selected
- A
church planting pastor is identified
-
The mother church forms teams for
...
- prayer (stateside)
- evangelism (initial
missions trip)
- building (if needed)
- communication
- follow up
- MA volunteer (1-2 years in
Thailand)
- The mother church helps
finance the infant years
